Meet the Instructors

Chris Dormaier
, M.S., CYT, ERYT 500 is Director of SoundYoga and a Certified Teacher Trainer in the tradition of Krishnamacharya. She also holds a diploma from the American Viniyoga Institute as a yoga therapist. Chris continues her studies with Sonia Nelson in Santa Fe, New Mexico. As a yoga therapist Chris applies yoga principles in developing yoga practices that support and meet the needs of individuals who strive for better health and a happier, well-balanced lifestyle. Chris has helped many people with arthritis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, heart conditions, MS, and other health concerns find yoga practices to maintain and improve their health.
 
Patricia Ballard
is a Certified Yoga Teacher in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and is also affiliated with the Yoga Alliance as a RYT at the 500 hr. level. She has been teaching in the living Krishnamacharya tradition since 2001. Her teaching is based on personal experience that Yoga can be a transformative tool to spark the potential in anyone.
 
Cheryl Sjoblom
is a Certified Yoga Teacher in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and is registered through the Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level. A teacher at Sound Yoga since 2000, she believes the healing benefits of yoga are available for everyone at any stage of the physical, mental and spiritual journey.
 
Karie Dillen
has been practicing viniyoga since 1997. She believes that yoga brings balance, flexibility and alignment to your body as well as to your mind and your life. She encourages students to discover how each posture lives within their own body. Karie is a Certified Yoga Teacher in the tradition of Krishnamacharya.
 
Alan Abrams
, a Certified Yoga Teacher in the tradition of Krishnamacharya, embraces yoga for how it can support each individual. He encourages us all to use yoga as a tool to nourish ourselves and bring happiness into our lives. His classes often include guided imagery in addition to movement and breathing practices. He explores philosophy from the Yoga Sutras and is interested in sharing ways that we can each use this philosophy to make intentional changes in our lives.
 
Virginia Wise
Virginia Wise has studied Vedic chant with Sonia Nelson, a longtime student of TKV Desikachar, for more than 10 years and yoga with her and other teachers for more than 30 years. Vedic chant has been an important addition to her personal practice, a source of strength and stability through challenging times. She wants to offer others the opportunity to discover its gifts for themselves.
 
Milo Minnis
Milo Minnis, M.Ed., RYT has been practicing yoga since 1981. She is certified through the Yoga Alliance and trained in the Krishnamacharya tradition. She is also holds an Advanced Certification in Restorative yoga. She has been teaching since 2000. Her teaching is influenced by her philosophy that every”body” can do yoga and gain peace and calm in life.
 
Shelly Aaron
Shelly Aaron, beat breast cancer in 1995, but that battle resulted in her gaining weight and leaving her with an aching back and pained knees. Today Shelly is a registered yoga teacher, certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and a licensed massage practitioner. With 12 years of experience she understands the unique challenges and roadblocks of transforming one’s health and fitness goals. Her passion and unique style motivates and inspires her clients to take charge of their lives once and for all.
 
Tamara Gillest
Tamara Gillest is certified at the 250 hour level in the Krishnamacharya tradition. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 250 hour level and is working to complete her 500 hour Certification in the Spring of 2013. She is certified to teach Essential Low Back Therapy and she regularly adds to her yoga tool belt. Tamara has been practicing yoga for 11 years and has used it to transform her life physically and spiritually. She integrates yoga philosophy into her life and uses it as guiding principles for moving, breathing, and managing everyday life. Tamara likes helping others find ways to integrate yoga in simple and practical ways.
 
Brenda McGee
Brenda McGee, MS, is a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT 500) in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and actively pursues studies in Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Vedic Chanting. Her classes include yoga postures and breathing techniques, as well as meditation and chanting. Brenda offers individualized instruction in her classes. She gives direction for subtle adjustments to help you “feel and deepen” the posture via the breath. Brenda’s private yoga practice concentrates on individual lessons with students who have special therapeutic needs resulting from Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Scoliosis, athletic activities, emotional and aging related matters.
